Your Role as Practitioner

An exciting future of change has begun at drummond street. As such, the organisation is looking for a full-time Better Access / ATAPS Practitioner to join their team, working across Wyndham and Brimbank locations.

Reporting to the Manager Western Region, this role will see you providing psychological services to improve mental health and wellbeing of children and adults, under the Better Access and ATAPS programs within drummond street's Family Services Model of Practice.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Conducting bio psycho-social assessments of risk and protective factors associated with mental health outcomes in this community;
  • Developing and implementing individual case plans in collaboration with clients;
  • Providing appropriate referral to both internal and external support agencies to meet needs identified through the assessment process;
  • Networking with a range of external health, social services and educational providers for the purpose of making appropriate client referrals or conjoint work where required; and
  • Providing a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions to achieve better mental health outcomes.

About You

The following will be essential in this position:

  • Tertiary qualifications and a background working as a Registered Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker;
  • A valid Medicare Provider Number and working with children check;
  • Working knowledge of the determinants of mental health and strong counselling skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of psychological interventions to children and adults;
  • A positive, creative and collaborative approach to the delivery of support services; and
  • Experience working with diverse communities.
